Review Creed’s Honor by Linda Lael Miller
Conner Creed knows exactly who he is: a hardworking rancher carrying on his uncle’s legacy in Lonesome Bend, Colorado. Maybe a small-town cowboy’s life isn’t his dream, but he owes the man who took him in as a kid. Until the identical twin brother he’s been estranged from for years reenters his life.
Conner struggles with identity issues as he gets to know his wilder brother. And then he meets Tricia McCall, a beautiful woman who knows a thing or two about living someone else’s dreams. Together, they just might find their own dreams right here in Lonesome Bend….
So if you’ve read my blog at all you know that I love Western’s and cowboy romance novels. I LOVE cowboy romances, and Linda Lael Miller is one of the best at them. Creed’s Honor was a novel I was greatly looking forward to. Connor Creed’s story was one I knew was going to be great, take a tortured twin whose separated from his brother for a decade, and throw in a woman unsure of what she wants, toss the estranged brother back in the mix, stir and bam! Recipe for greatness. I was not as in love with A Creed in Stone Creek as I wanted to be but Ms. Miller’s work is always good so I thought, of course this is going to be great.
Connor Creed is a tormented man. Struggling with duty to his ranch after a massive fight with his twin that resulted in their not speaking for 10 years. He is confronted with Tricia, a woman uncertain of her future with her crappy boyfriend and who is trying to figure out where she fits in the world while house sitting for her aunt. These are two wounded souls trying to find a place to heal and grow together.
I love that sentiment, that Ms. Miller throws two, well weak individuals, together and helps them grow strong together. Its a fantastic sentiment and a great recipe for a romance novel. I loved how when Brody, the long lost twin came back in Creed’s Honor after he’s all ready made appearances in A Creed in Stone Creek, his story is not just thrown at you as soon as he appears, he is FAR more broken and battered and bruised than anyone else realized and he’s still reticent about opening up to his twin. Ms. Miller using him as a foil for Connor was inspired, if not predictable, they are two broken halves both searching for their others, and that comes across perfectly.
Brody’s wounded nature, Connor’s prickly porcupine protectiveness of his own hide and Tricia’s complete lack of direction combine for a really honest great touching novel I’ve read many times now, when I just wanted something Western and romance-ey and pretty to make me feel happy and warm. Thats just it. Creed’s Honor makes you feel warm.
