Review Pack and Coven by Jody Wallace
Harry Smith is a lone wolf, and he likes it that way. When he’s targeted to be co-alpha of the local pack, there is only one thing he can do to maintain his freedom: flee. But it’ll take a miracle to stay a step ahead of shifters in their own territory.
June Travis has been in love with Harry for years, but he doesn’t know her real identity. He sees her as the sweet owner of the local tearoom—the facade June presents to humans and werewolves to keep them from finding out she’s a witch. She may not be able to offer Harry a miracle, but she can help him escape.
Harry is drawn to this new side of June, and not just because he’s grateful for her help. With her magic temporarily hiding Harry from his pursuers, the witch and the wolf explore their mutual attraction. But there are consequences for witches who bed down with wolves…
Hilarious awesome bumbling werewolf who doesn’t want anything to do with being the alpha, a hiding, face shifting witch who has been pretending to be old and 80 when really she’s 25 and hot who runs the local tea room, sexually aggressive female wolves bound and determined to drag Harry to the alter of the alpha to make him theirs so they don’t have to suffer another fool, back woods West Virginia wolf shifters determined to take over and breed the bitches the way they want and a local coven who is determined to keep their existence a secret, from the werewolves and the humans… INSTANT AWESOME.
You can see all of the intriguing mash ups of conflicts all ready just in the description of the book and that doesn’t even take into account their characters and how unique and individual and well planned, and well described and interesting and …… I could go on.
Its obvious I loved this book. It was just so different and cute and interesting and unique and the shifters were so different from anything I’ve read before. Their pack dynamics were so off and yet it made so much sense. Why wouldn’t the female shifters bond together to try to force the one lone wolf they know doesn’t want to be the alpha to be the alpha because they don’t want another bunch of abusive shiftless, non working a-holes making them do all the work and bossing them around. Well duh? Why would a wolf who is content with his life want to join a pack with responsibility and stuff, full of forceful women who just want to sort of rape him?
And why wouldn’t a single woman who is 25 and hot masquarade as an older woman in a small town where bikers are frequent if she doesn’t want any attention. I loved every weird conundrum and every quirk that Ms. Wallace threw into pack and coven. Thats not even mentioning the pack dynamics when the local baddies come into town and June and Harry have to hitch a ride back into town with them due to the blockade when all they want to do is kill Harry so they can claim the pack.
Pack and Coven in addition to being very well written was also so funny! I mean I was completely shocked by how much I laughed during Harry’s reactions to June’s spells and his avoidance of dirt even while being a werewolf. I loved when June and Harry finally decided to fight and had to lobby their coven to fight with them for “paranormal Rights”.
The whole novel was just hilarious and interesting and amazing and funny.
